This 934 and a 1/2 was sold to the Interscope Team and painted in their Black with orange, brown and pink pinstripes. Ted Field and Danny Ongais raced it in the 1977 TransAm and IMSA series, Ongais winning at Laguna Seca.
At the last IMSA race of the season, the Daytona Finale, Ted Field was driving the car when he hit Johnny Rutherford, driving one of Dick Barbour's 935s when the race was black flagged, both cars being very badly damaged. Dick Barbour bought 0953 and used some of the parts in a new bodyshell he bought from the factory, probably 930 890 0037. With this, the Dick Barbour team won the 1978 Sebring 12-Hours. (see 930 890 0037).
NOTE: In May, 2007, the remains of 930 770 0953 were sold by Dick Barbour to a new owner in the U.S. who is rebuilding the Interscope 934 1/2 back to original specification.
